A TRAVEL TALK
The English-speaking Union has changed its. place: of, meeting, and now is holding, its entertainments (so far as .the monthly ones go) irf the National Club. This is being, 'newly decorated and yesterday, looked most attractive , with, new carpeting, etc. There was a bowl.of handsome marigolds and bronze chrysanthemums on the central table, and some wintertoned hydrangeas-, were also'; most at» tractive. Later "in the afternoon •an excellent tea was served. ..
Mrs. Claridge presided, and" first introduced Mrs., Perry, the.new secretary of the B.S:V., who1 assured those present of her interest iiv the,, work, and masked the; special countenance of the •■■older ' members- for. the junior branch—of whom there were about 70 members, all'enthusiastic,~an'd ready-to work- for the ideals of: theainionV They had two evenings a week-'of-badmin-ton, and she hoped some: of-the elder ■members would ;go along sometimes' to give encouragement in a friendly-spirit. ■i. Mrs;: Claridge introduced two other guests of honour, Mrs.'Shakespeare and Mrs. Parata,' who received a cordial welcome: and posies' of flowers.' Mrs. Ainslie, with accompaniment by Mrs. Charles Mac Donald,; sang : two appreciated, songs. " : :■■...-, ■ Mrs. W.H..Davidson was.then introduced, and gave a •delightful talk about her travels abroad, touching on the caravanning, .which,-with' Mr. Davidson, had formed.a great-part 6f ths pleasure 'and fun of. their travelling throughout England and other countries. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs. Davidson for her interesting address, and also to. Mesdames Ainslie and Mac Donald. There was a very large' attendance, of members, the room being quite crowded, the committee being well represented.
