FALL DOWN WELL
DEATH .OF OLD MAN
Chest injuries suffered when he fell down a dry well fifteen feet deep at Trentham caused the death of Timothy Riordan, a widower, aged 72. The accident occurred on March 10, and he died in the Wellington Public Hospital on March 14. At an inquest today the Coroner (Mr. E. Gilbertson, J.P.) returned a verdict of accidental death.
Evidence was given that Riordan occupied a bach at Trentham, and used to do light work on a neighbouring farm for exercise. He was near the well when he was last seen, and said, when he was taken out of the well, that he stepped back too far.
