successfu l;dance ;held
Another jolly and successful Returned Soldiers' Association danee1 ; took place recently at the Realm, Hataitai, which was well filled with a happy throng of dancers.
The Hataitai branch of the R.S.A^is very fortunate in haying such a hardworking committee. The success of the dance was' due .to their untiring efforts; they looked .after their guests and kept .everyone happy, ;and all ad* mitted it to be 'one - of: the jolliest dances of the,season.'
Novelty dances were held in. plenty, and,modern- and_ old-time, dancing was indulged .in until a late hour. The winners.of the novelty dances were Mrs. Smith and Mr. Killett, Mrs!" Paterson and Mri T. Reade, : and Mrs. E. Ritchards and' Mr. Chattertori. A delicious home-made savoury supper served on wagons, a good orchestra, and snowballs and streamers all helped towards the general enjoyment.
Captain Biss made a capable M.C. The ladies'" committee' consisted of Mrs. F. McDonald- (who wore black matallase relieved .with silver),' Mrs. L. B." Quintori (navy" blue lace and cerise), Mrs. L.-Hill (floral georgette), Mrs. E. Kemnitz (marina blue crepe), Mrs. R. Baigent (honey coloured lace), Mrs. J. C. Burbery • (lettuce green satin), Mrs. J. Urquhart -demon floral georgette), and Mrs. G. R. Pirie, hon. secretary '(bl^k Jace'.and net). The committee expressed thanks to all those who sent donations'to the supper. Among those present- were Lieut.Colonel and Mrs. R. S. McQuarrie (the latter in cream lace), Captain and Mrs. |Biss (green flat crepe), Captain'and [Mrs. Bullock (black and silver), Mr. 1 and Mrs. McKay (cream lace); Mr. and Mrs. H. Harris (floral'georgette), Mr. and Mrs. P. Hepburn/(blue patterned crepe), Mr. and Mrs. W. Stack (black ring velvet and silver), Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Griffiths • (gold threaded tissue over flame), Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Williams (almond green velvet/, Mr. and Mrs." Rountree (pink satin), Mr. and Mrs. Patterson (midnight blue), Mrs. F. G. Alexander (almond green lace), Mrs. Roberts (wine velvet), Mr. and Mrs, Williamson" (wine crepe de chine), Mr. and Mrs. W. Reed (flame satin), Mr. and Mrs. E. Ritchards (cameo .pink and silver), Miss Cowles (pink matallase),- Miss Campbell (blue taffeta), Miss Homes (black velvet), Miss J. Barker : (black ring velvet and sequin), Mr. and Mrs. T.
