The annual- meeting of the Moera branch of the League of Mothers was held recently in- the-Community Hall,' Lower Hutt. Mrs. H. E. K. The annual report was well received, and showed gradual progress in the work of the branch. Mrs. Craig McKenzie was re-elected president and Mesdames H. W. Kersley, W. Nash,H. E. K. Fry, and D. D. W. Kersley on "Economical Cookery." Mrs. Kersley brought with her numerous dainty and appetising dishes and. explained the process of preparation and costs. The speaker had prepared dishes made from very economical foods within the range of the smallest income. ' Mrs. Kersley urged the members to instruct their daughters- in -the art of cooking. "Good cooking is an art," said the speaker, "and when a girl marries she has her husband's money in trust to spend to the best of .her ability. No man wants to' marry an' expert tin-opener!" -. After the demonstration Mrs.' Kersley announced that the dishes were for sale, and this generous offer helped considerably ivith the "bring and buy" afternoon which had • been \ arranged by the members to augment the funds.

Mrs. Parry gave a monologue and Miss Ashforth a musical item; both of which were much appreciated. Afterwards the thought of the month was given, and the National Anthem sung. Some brisk buying was ..done by members and friends which brought a successful meeting to a; close.'
