BRITISH OPEN
FEWER AMERICAN PLAYERS
LONDON, July 10. j "Fewer Americans are challenging for the British open golf title, because the committee has not made the championship attractive," said J. H. Kirkwood. "Ten thousand spectators at Muirfield daily paid 2s 6d each, yet A. jferry, the Leatherhead (Surrey) professional, who won the title, received only £100. Moreover, the title is almost worthless in America, where money is tight."
J. H. Taylor, who was five limes open champion, says: "Tell Joo Kirkwood that his excuse is a lame onu. The Americans are not..coming because the championship is harder to win.'*
