HOCKEY IN HOROWHENUA
For some considerable time there has been discontent on the part of the Horowhenua > Hockey Association at us treatment by Manawatu, the women of the district being affiliated to that body. It has so far been impossible to entei a team for the Gisborne tournament, and severance has been asked for on numerous occasions. However, letters in reply are not to hand, and, in consequence, the Horowhenua Association has made application to the New Zealand Women's Association for assistance in obtaining severance. That body has now written to Manawatu requesting an answer by July 20. Hockey in Horowhenua is on the upgrade, and thanks to some solid workers the game has made rapid strides. It is hoped, should the severance from Manawatu be secured, to send a ladies' team to the tournament to be held at Gisborne, and also to send a men's team on tour.
