LAW AND ORDER BREAKS DOWN
(Received July 1, noon.) BARCELONA, June 30. Squads of cavalry are patrolling the streets, and police and civil guards armed with Mauser rifles are posted at public buildings. The, Minister of" War and the Minister oi the Interior have arrived, and have authorised attempts ail demonstrations of violence to be dealt with. , The martial law decision was fully justified. The almost complete breakdown of law and order in recent months is due largely to the rebellious attitude of a section of the police, fifty-eight of whom were dismissed last week. Assassinations, attempts against employers, and the burning of trams and buses are alarmingly frequent
