BIBLE SOCIETY
MEETING OF BRANCHES
There was a very large and representative gathering of members.of the British and Foreign Bible Society rer cently at the Methodist Church, Hataitai, although the weather was particularly unfavourable.
The Rev. J. Leadley presided and gave some interesting facts with regard to .the society.
The organising secretary briefly outlined the work of the branches represented, which included Hataitai, Oriental' Bay-Roseneath, Kilbirnie, Lyall Bay, Miramar, ■ Seatoun, Wellington East, Worser and Karaka Bays, and Rongotai. ;
The' Dominion secretary (the Rev. D. Calder) gave an inspiring address dealing with the many aspects of the world-wide, work, and the growth of the movement, stressing the( very important part women took in it and the greet success they achieved, and giving interesting instances. .
■ A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker.
At the close bt the meeting all adjourned to the (schoolroom for afternoon tea. The hostesses were Mesdames Binnie, Hampton, Finlay Martin, A. M. Lewis, Orange, McLeod, Alex.'Smith, Israel, • Jennings, and Rands. All were kept very busy looking after the large number of guests. Mr. Calder warmly thanked them all for the pleasant hospitality which had been enjoyed, also the organist (Miss Turner), and the officers, of the Church for the use of the church and schoolroom.
