PAEKAKARIKI MATCH

Golf of a fine order in yesterday's rough weather was seen at Paekakariki, in a match between A. J. Shaw anil \V. Campbell, professionals, and F. and J. Kember, Paekakariki members. Placing the ball w.as permitted. Shaw and Campbell were in fine form, only occasionally finding difficulty in gauging the pace of the greena, and the Kembers did remarkably well to suffer defeat by so narrow a margin. Shaw played some very fine seconds. He reached a 458-yard' hole in 2, and carried the hill at the home hole with a shot of some 265 yarde. He awed the club member Avho caddied for him by successfully taking a No: o. iron into the wind for the 162-yard crater. Campbell was very steady, and shared with F. Kember, who was right on his game, the distinction'of doing the nine-hole course in 33. Campbell also produced the lowest IS-holc card, 70. The professionals were 2 up in the morning and finished 5 and 4..
