FANCY DRESS PARTY
QUEEN MARGARET COLLEGE
The. Parents' Association of Queen Margaret College held a delightful children's party at the school on Saturday afternobn.; The main hall was gaily decorated >vith rainbow streamers and, bunciies of balloons, arid was crowded"with: little people in. every imaginable'fancy costume.
Some of-thefrocks were most attractive and original. All sorts of animals, flowers, and period dresses were represented. On© little lady in a loud check , skirt made with a generous bustle, a short scarlet jacket, • and jaunty'hat,-looked very much the spirit of the "gay nineties."
The children all joined in the community- singing led by Mr. Harry Wilson, and sitting in a circle on the floor around the piano they made a most attractive sight. AH sorts of games were also popular. ■';..
The very young* children played in a l;irge schoolroom. Here Miss Mary Hale and members of the staff assisted. Miss Valmai Paulin, a pupil of. Miss Babe, gave7a delightful;dance,.and a pretty little pas do'deux was danced by little Misses Margaret Biehelbaum and Pamela Holiday,' dressed in crinolines of lavender "and pink crinkled paper with large sunshades to matich. The ventriloquist, Mr. Burridge, who entertained th© children later in the afternoon, was most popular. Tea was laid in the dining-room, where ,the long tables looked most charming with, vases of yellow jonquils and plates of good things to, eat. Wide bands of the school colours, placed diagonally across /the cloths, added to the decorative' scheme. The grown-ups had tea in one of the classrooms, a pretty room with a bright fire>
The committee/who had assisted with the work of organisation included Mrs. Armoury Mrs. Len Blnndell., Mrs. Clinkard, Mrs. Dallard, Mrs. Dinnie, Mrs. Duncan, Mrs. Eastwood,-Mrs. Eichelbauin, Mrs. Holiday, Mrs. Mantell-Harding, Mrs. Luke, Mrs. Martin, and Mrs. Mazengarb. Mias 'Irene Wilson, principal of Queen Margaret College, and several members, of the staff were present, as •well as many parents and friends.
