BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY.
An excellent entertainment was given by the Miramar Band at the rooms of the British Sailors' Society last'Monday. There was a large and most enthusiastic audience of seamen and friends who thoroughly enjoyed every item. The band items were: —'"North Star" (march), "Love's Greeting" • (waltz),. "Who Killed, Cock Robin?" (hutnouresque), memorieß of Schubert, "March Militaire" and "Majestic" (march). Recitations were given by Misses Ngaire Holmes and Jean Hooker, and a cornet solo by Master Hooker, who is only nine years old. ' Items were also contributed by Miss Jean Hooker"'(trombone and violin solos) and "Old Black Joe" and C. Woods (songs). Miss Robson was the accompaniste, and Mr. R. A. Sutherland the rbandmaster. A vote of thanks to the band and assisting artists was carried with acclamation, supper was served by the workers, and the evening was brought to a close with the National Anthem. .
