Since last night a cyclone, which was situated north-west of Cape Maria van Diemen, has become a .very Intense one and this morning was I centred near the latter cape, where pressure was as low as 29.18 inches at 9 a.m. Some I light spattered rain fell yesterday in the Auckland- rrovince, but elsewhere, though rather cloudy, the weather was mostly fair. During the night, however, rain became general in the Auckland uistrict, heavy falls occurring at places, and it has since extended to many other parts of the Xorth Island as well as to tha western and southern portions of the South Island.
