WRESTLING ON MONDAY.

The 1934 wrestling season should receive a great start on Monday, at the Town Hall, from two wrestlers who must be considered. representatives of the highest class yet to be seen in Xew Zealand. Dr. Freddy Meyer, an American, has a' wonderful record both as amateur and professional. . Following University education, during which he qualified in dentistry, he turned professional in 1928 and since then has met nearly all the "big men" in the game in America. Included in his impressive record are draws with such famous wrestlers as Browning (the present champion), Sonnenburg, and Henri de Glane. As an amateur Dr. Meyer, represented his country- at the Olympic Games in Antwerp, where he wrestled with great success, although against men of much greater weight. 'Rene Michot, who will oppose Dr. Meyer on Monday, is champion of France, and is admitted by authorities to be in the first flight-of professional wrestlers. This is his first trip away from France, and as he spent only a month in America before coming on here he did not have much opportunity of proving himself there. But his record in Europe, is a splendid one, and a number of French and; English, papers just to hand contain glowing ac-; counts of: his performances.. The- big' match on Monday will be preceded by.-' amateur bouts. ■■'. : - Japan's foreign trade last year increased by about £ioo,ooo;ooo: ■■'■;■■ ;
