£1000 FOR DISTRESS RELIEF

CHRISTCHURCH, May 2. . The liyttelton Harbour Board decided today to give £.1000 for the relief of distress in the city and surrounding districts this winter. . The grant, which is tho same amount as that given by the board last year, will be divided into two sections of £.500 each. One will go to tho fund being raised by the Canterbury Progress League and tho other amount will be distributed in tho districts in the board's representation area as decided by a special committee of tho board.
