DEBUTANTES' DANCE

SIX HUNDRED GUESTS

Organised by the Parents' Association, the ball at Marsdcn School last night was an unqualified success, over GOO guests being present.

Tho decorations wore carried out by the school girls- arid completely transformed the interior of the'building. The vestibule was'a bower of green leaves and ferns, while in the hall masses of beautiful dahlias, hydrangeas, and bronze chrysanthemums mado a charming background 'for the twenty young debutantes, all old pupils of Marsden, each of whom made her curtsey to Dr. and Mrs. Graham Eobertson; Miss Mayhew, and Mrs; Knox Gilmer.

One room was set' aside for bridge players, but many of' the non-dancers preferred to look down on the gay scene in the ballroom from the minstrels' gallery, t Cool drinks were at hand all through the evening, and a really delicious, supper was provided in a room made gay with mangolds, Iceland poppies, and copper birch. During the. evening-an enjoyable exhibition of dancing was given by Miss Juno Eeid and Miss Jean. Turnbull.

The debutantes were: —Miss Elsie Gibbons'(white not over taffeta, with silver floral trimming), Miss Molly Hurst (ivory. angel skin lace with insets of frilled georgette in the skirt), Miss Aroha ; Griffen (cream'lace frock, small puffed sleeves, and pale pink and green flowers about the hem), Miss Edna Chote (in a gown of cream silk lace, cut on Grecian lines,, her posy was of pastel-shaded flowers), Miss Shirley Hopkins (ecru lace with insets of embroidered net in the skirt), Miss Vivionne Little (net frock worn over cream taffeta) with dainty shoulder frills of pleated net, a bouquet of rod roses and freesias), Miss Betty Lewis (ivory windswept satin cut on classic lines, and bouquet of pale pink and blue flowers), Misses Olive and Gweuda Hazelton (dressed alike in frocks of white taffeta' with a wide ruehing at the hem), Miss Lola Kelly (white laeo frock, the neckline outlined with pink organdie flowers, pink posy), Miss Jean Kerruish (whito satin with rows of georgette frills on tho skirt, her posy was of pink and bluo flowers), Miss Patty Munroe (palest pink;satin, a posy of deeper shaded flowers), Miss .Erice Goblo (palo roso-cOlonred satin with touches of silver at the neckline), Miss Nancy Luke (ruchings of taffeta on a fi'ock of white silk net), Miss Yvonne Holmes (whito organdie net, embroidered with pastel colours and with fanshaped pleating over the shoulders), Miss Margarot limit (salmon pink satin with appliqued satin flowers on the skirt), Miss Sonia Caselberg (white frock of riichcd net over satin, and a posy of pale pink rosebuds), Miss Joan Brico (parchment satin gown, cut on classic lines, and a Victorian, posy), Miss Pat Bricc (white velvet trimmed with fur,) Miss Judith Allen (white starched net frock with taffeta hemiino and finished at tho buck with a largo taffeta bow).
