AN APPEAL TO "DIGGERS "
"Digger" requests "The Post" to issue an appeal to returned men to join the parades on Anzac Day. It is pointed out that these -parades serve two purposes. There is remembrance of old comrades and the respect shown to those who gave their lives. Not less important, especially as memories of the war become dimj is the need for recalling to a new generation the sacrifices then made. Often attendance is difficult to returned men, but "Digger" suggests that they should make the personal sacrifice in order to carryout a solemn duty. There is another difficulty also, "Like most 'Diggers' (states the correspondent) my heart tells me I should parade at the memorial as a sign ■of respect for fallen comrades, but one feels shy if only a few parade. If it were known that there would be a good parade this shyness would be overcome, and the occasion would become more impressive.
