FACING MR. SNOWDEN
ALLUSION TO AUSTRALIA
LONDON, 15th July. ■ The Marquess of Lothian, during & debate on the Finance Bill in the House of Lords, predicted that' the Chancellor of the Exchequer; Mr. Philip Snowden, next year 'would be faced with the most serious situation in living memory, and it was a question as to what measures the Government should take. They would be bound to be far-reach-ing', and might even approach thosa adopted in Australia. !.. ; : .'
The Marquess of Lothian, formerly Mr. Philip Kerr, was secretary to Mr. Lloyd George as Prime Minister from 1916 to 1921, and prior to that editor of the "Round Table."
