A side . allusion to Mr.' Langstone's prowess aa a financier wa;s made by the Minister of Native Affairs (Sir Apirana Ngata') last night, in:reply to a Labour interjection. , "That is cheerful," remarked. Mr. E. J. Howard , (Labour,^ Christchurch South), when the Minister declared his opinion that retrenchment might 'have to be resorted to as well as wage reductions.
