SPHINX ANSWERS QUESTIONS
Lady Chaytor staged 'her Mystery Ball in the dungeon of Witton Castle recently, entertaining more than 200 guests at supper, states the ' "Daily j Mail." . In a series of optical illusions, green beer and green sandwiches were served by "ghosts." Hidden in reeessos were a number of skeletons, some seated on chairs and others hung by chains from the walls and roofs. One of the guests, well known to the north, made a fo'reed entry into the castle, dressed as Dick Turpin, by scaling the wall. He appeared as dancing was in progress and held up a num-. ber of people at the point of a pistol. The Mystery Eoom was in charge pf Professor Norton, and Lady Chaytor demonstrated a numtuer of illusions, presented in weird surroundings. The mysteries for which she offered a prize of £25 for a correct solution, included "La Morte,-" in which a young woman assistant changes into a skeleton, another in which an assistant defied the law of gravity, and a third in which a Sphinx answered questions. .
