LABOUR DAY SPORTS
The Labour Day Committee is advertising in this issue the . programme of sports to be held under the A.A.A., Wellington Centre. In addition to'that programme, arrangements are being made to stage a wrestling tournament, of: which particulars will be announced later.' The secondary schools are invited to compete for the National Cash Register Cup. The primary school boys are invited to compete for the Preston Cup. The primary school girls are invited to compete for the Te Aro Advancement Cup. The committee at its last meeting received information that Mr. K.S.. Williams, M.P., liad donated a handsome cup to be competed for at the Labour Day sports, in the primary school boys' relay race. This cup will be known as the Matahiia Cup, named after the home station of Mr. Williams. The committee expressed its appreciation at the kindness and generosity of Mr. Williams in donating -this, handsome cup. An endeavour will be made to display the cups in possession-of the committee during the week prior to Labour Day. The children are not being forgotten; a special .committee brought down its report for their entertainment and amusement on that day, which was adopted by the general committee. ;In addition to the programme mentioned above, there are being provided other sports for old and young, including Highland dancing. Arrangements are also being made for holding a dance in the evening. . ■
