PLEASING WEATHER

FAVOURABLE FORECAST

Saturday's strong southerly winds decreased during the day, and, with the passage of a slight low pressure wave over southern New Zealand, there was a change ■to westerlies on Saturday night. The meteorological situation^ however, has been dominated during the week-end by the influenca of an anti-eyelone which has- been gradually advancing in this direction. Although a few scattered showers have fallen in places, the weather over tha Dominion as a whole has been, and still is, fair to fine, and at 9 a.m. to-day light to moderate southerly winds wera the rule. There is an extensive anticyclone over Australia at the present time, and if this.follows the one now over New Zealand without the inter-, vention of any disturbing factor, fine weather should continue for some time.

Auckland experienced a'strong southerly wind on (Saturday, but otherwise the week-end weather in the northern city was fine, although s light jhower or two fell lait night. It was fine in Wellington on Saturday, but the southerly was distinctly cold. A light northwesterly yesterday made conditions more pleasant. Christchiirch had a fine but cold week-end, nine and, a half degrees of frost being recorded on Sunday morning. In Dunedin the week-end weather was changeable, sunshine and cloud alternating. ,

Moderate to fresh south-easterly winds are forecasted to prevail north of Kawliia and East Cape, and fresh westerlies in Foveaux Strait. Elsewhere light to moderate southcrlies may beexpected, although winds may be variable in places. Fair to fine weather is likely to continue generally, but northern and southern extremities of the country may experience a certain amount of cloud. Gold nights will big accompanied by inland frost*
