"Lover of Birds and Animals" suggests that the heavy mortality among parrots is often accounted for by ignorance or neglect on the part of owners. The birds are not given sufficient grit or variety of food, sometimes their cages are not properly washed, and they are not given the means of bathing in water, sand, or mould. Often, too, t^iey fret in captivity.
