SERIOUS OFFENCE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON, This Day. A jockey, Claude James Began, aged 21,' was remanded, to-day on a Charge of rape. A pedestrian walking along Ward street at 1 o'clock on Sunday morning heard a scream from a vacant^ section. He. went to the spot, where he saw a man and a girl struggling. The man told tho newcomer he would "clean him up" if he remained. The visitor then got the assistance of a taxi (driver, and thoy found the girl unconscious on the ground, the man having decamped. There were signs of a severe struggle. The girl was taken to the, hospital unconscious, and had. improved to-day. Regan was remanded in custody till 30th April. ~
