THE MARGARET W.

TOWED TO GISBORNE

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, This Day. The motor-ship Margaret W. arrived from Hicks Bay this morning in tow of the Tiroa, the trip taking 30 hours. The sea conditions made the towing difficult, especially when rounding East Cape in the face of. heavy seas, but tho only incident was tho snapping of the line off Tuahine, near Gisborne. _ The damage to tho motor-ship was limited to the tailshaft coupling. Temporary repairs will be made hero, and the vessel.will proceed to Auckland on Monday.

Captain Clark states that tho ship was* fortunately placed when the mishap occurred, and a breeze from a good quarter facilitated its return to' Hicks Bay. He also spoke highly of Captain Garrett's handling of the Tiroa on the tow. The repairs will not be costly, and the cargo will be exempted from cost.
