RELIGION IN SCHOOLS
A BILL AMENDED
The Education Amendment Bill introduced in the Legislative Council by tho Hon. G. M. Thomson with the design of instituting a form of religious instruction in schools was reported-to the Council yesterday with amendments by the Education Committee.
The suggestion in the Bill that the teaching in the State schools should be regarded as secular "in the sense of non-sectarian" has been deleted. The only other alteration is the deletion-of the provision that State school teachers shall'be required to" attend the religious instruction classes in order to see that order and discipline: are preserved.
