INVERCARGILL, 2nd October. ' " Tne Annual Meeting of tho Birchwood Hunt Club was held to-day in boautlful weather. There was -a good attendance. Tho track was in good order.

Calibration fell in the Gardner Memorial Steeplechase. He got to his feet, galloped about a furlong, then dropped dead. When Thlstlecrown fell In the Birchwood Hack Steeplechase, D. O'Connor received a broken collarbone. The totalisator handled 55911 10s, as against £G307 for last year.
