WELLINGTON CLUB
With a view to assisting the handicap; per to pick teams for the Press Cup teams race,, the Wellington Club held a runthrough from Kelburn. A. Morns and h. Williams selected a very tiring trail, winch started from the Kelburn terminus and led down to Salamanca road, then through Anderson Park to Glenmore road; it then went up to the wireless station, via Garden and Northland roads, then went along the hills to Wadcstown, followed Wilton road until opposite the Karori Cemetery, when it turned up to Northland and back to Kelburn over the viaduct. By the time the wireless station was reached the runners were well strung out,, the leaders being J. Shephavd, A. Burns, A. Hivon, I'j. Watson, and L. Stoles. About 200 yards back were J. O'Brien, D. Thorn, R. Spencc, K. Nowson, and S. Willis. The leaders kept together until about a mile from the finish, then Burns and Shephard put on the pace, and gradually drew away, and in an exciting finish Shephard' led. Burns home by about fivo yards. A. Hiyon was next, and then came Stoles and Watson. Of the next bunch of runners, J. O'Brien proved to be the best. Of the 29 runners out about 27 comploted the trail. Next week the club will be the guests of Mrs. L. Lyons, 20, Palm grove, Berhampore. •
