SCHOOL SWIMMING
r* The distribution of swimming certificates won by pupils of South Wellington School took place in the School Hall on Thursday afternoon. Sir. C. (Jollycr (chairman of the School Committee) presided, and Mr. P, Coiru (chairman of the Wellington Centre of the N.Z.A.S.A.) distributed the certificates. . The following are the winners of proficiency and merit certificates:— Proficiency (220 yards anil over). —Boys: Douglas Warden, Stanley Barnard, John Berry, Harry Tucker, Alan M'Ehvain, William Bowl, Daniel Hennessey, Albert Lambert. Girls: Eunice Bonishae, Iris Thomas, Dorothy Murphy, Thelma Vinfien, Ksrua Clark, Ivy Walker, Kutli Burr, Stella Jackson, Julie Simmonds, Euby Sexton. Merit (880 yards and over). —Boys: Edward Hennessey (900 yds), Leonard Hodge (900 yds), Jack Miller (900 yds), James Reid (1100 yds), Edward Pettit (1100 yds), Sedjer Dickey (1100 yds), Bernard Hai« (1800 yds), Philip Reid (1800 yds), Harold Goodyer (1100 yds). Girls: Merle Tonics (880 yds), Barbara Edie (880 yds), Marie Jenkins (880 yds), Edna Kellett (950 yds), Elsa Cress (1000 yds). Forty-eight learners' certificate! (50yds and over) were also awarded.
