RISING MEAT PRICES.

The New Zealand Meat Producers Board lias received the following cable from its London office, dated 4th. May, advising Smithfield delivered prices averaged tor week ending that date,, and showing movements on the week in parentheses as follow:—New Zealand Wethers and Maidens: Canterbury quality, selected brands, 50-under 7 l-8d (up l-8d), 57-04 6%d (up 1-8(1), 65-72 5%d; other brands/56-under 7d (up l-8d), 57-64 6,3-8 d (up l-8d), 65-72 5V&d. New Zealand Ewes: 64-uuder s'/4d. New Zealand Lambs: Canterbury quality, 36-under lOd (up l-8d), 37-42 9 3-8 d (up 1-Sd), 43-50 B%d, seconds o%d (up 1-Sd); selected brands, 36-under 9%d, 37-42 9*/ id (up l-8d). Other brands,, first quality, 36-under, 9 5-8 d (up l-8d), 37-42 0 l-8d (up l-8d); second quality, 30-32 average, 9 3-Bd. Australian Lambs: Victorian, first quality, 36-under, not quoted, 37-42, not quoted. Argentine Lambs: First quality, 36-under B%d, 37-42 7%d (up "Ad). New Zealand Beef: Ox fores 3%d, ox hinds sAd (up Vtd), cow fores 3'Ad, cow hinds 4V4d. Argentine Chilled Beef: Ox fores 4%d (up %d), ox hinds 7y*d (up l-8d). Mutton: Wethers, market steady; ewes, light stocks, there is a good demand. Frozen Beef: Market is stronger owing lo lighter supplies^Argentine chilled beef. New Zealand Baconer Pigs: Fair demand. New Zealand Porker Pigs: There is a poor demand owing to the end of the season. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., has received the following cablegram from its London office, under date 4th May:—"New Zealand Frozen Meat: Lamb, 9 3-Bd. Mutton: Wether and maiden ewe, light 6%d per ]b, heavy 5%d per Ib. Ewe: Light 5 3-8 d per Ib, heavy 5 l-8d per lb; markets quiet."
