.Tlie All Blacks' are meeting Leicestershire to-day. The county is able to field • good side; and -tlioug_-.it may not be looked upon as particularly strong, it should show sonic very fair combination, as most of the players will be drawn from the Leicester Club. ' Leicestershire will;have -i fine leader in W. W.. Wakefield, who captained England last season. Other men in the side may be L. C. Sambrook (full-back -in England's trial matches last season) and H. L. Price and A. M. Smallwood, who were in .the running for. international honours last season. Wakefield and Price are forwards. • Sambrook is considered to be a better full-back than Gaisford, who has been with the British' teanuin South Africa. The Leicester Club had a failmeasure of success last season. Up to and including 21st April forty-three matches were played, and -*of these 22 were won, 3 drawn, mid 16 lost. .'-Points for totalled 467, and points against 403. One of Leicester's most notable successes was over the United Services. Leicester were without Wakefield,^Price, and Smallwood, and looked to have.a formidable, task in front of them, but they won by 22 points to 5. In" a match with Cardiff, at Cardiff, ■ Leicester suffered defeat, but on their homo ground : they tcok a handsome revenge for that reverse, winning by 13 points to nil. They appeared in/a splendid game with Richmond, the final score of which was 17 points to 14 in Richmond's favour. Leicester players (other than those mentioned), who showed good form last season and who may be opposing the All BJacks to-day, are: —Wilkins,, Day .(a good place-kick), Coates, P. Lawrie, Usher, Simpson, Prentice, and J. R. Lawrie. In tho county championship last season Leicestershire won the Midlands section, but lost to Cumberland in the semi-final.
