CHRISTCHURCH, 10th Nov. The Canterbury Jockey Club's Metropolitan Meeting was continued in ' finebut windy weather. The attendance was-very good, and the course in splendid order. The totalisator handled £48,667, against. £43,944 10s last year. Other results :—'

Juvenile Plate, of 500 soys; five furlongs.—l Humbug, 7.10 (J. Hocklcy), 1; 3 Right and Left, 6.11, 2; 2 Miss Mimic, 8.2, 3. Also started—4 Amythas 8.7, 5 Prodigal 8.0. Right and Left began better than Humbug, but there was not much between them when they reached the course proper, where Misa Mimic was at the head of the others. A great finish between the two-year-olds resulted in Humbug beating Right and Xeft by a head, Miss Mimic being two lengths away. Time,, 58: 4-ssec.

Metropolitan Handicap, of 1250 soys ; one mile and a-h&lf.—3 Battle Song, 7.13 (G. Young), 1; 9 Eleus, 7.5 (T.-Reid). 2; 7 Kilmoon, 8.7 (A. J. M'Flynn), 3. Also started—B Afterglow 9.1, 4 Mascot &10, 1 Kilrush 8.4, 2. Heathercote 8.2, 5 Koyal Star 7.9," 11 Kose Pink 7.8, 6 Hurry Up 7.8, 10 Bonnie Heathov 7.5, 8 Falstaff' 7.1. Bonnie Heather and Royal Star led out of the straight, but passing' Cutts's Kilrush wa3 in second place. In the back stretch Hurry Up made a forward move, and 'at the home turn Battle Song, Kilmoon, Eleus, and Kilrush were on terms. Battle Song drew out in the last hundred yards and beat Eleus- by a length, Kilmoon beating Kilrnsh by a head for third money. Mascot was next. Time, 2min 35 l-ssec.

Ashley Handicap, of 200 soys; ono milo._l Tortrix, 8.2 (G. Young), 1; 2 Acquittal, 8.12, 2; 5 R«d Signal, 8.4, 3. Also started: 11-Fleet-ham 9.5, 3 Seasprite 9.3. 7 Egmont Park 8.6, 9 Orange Bitters 8.5, 12 Fabisco 8.1, 10 Red Pool 7.12, 6 Arch Salute 7.11, 4 Barley Riggs 7.11, 8 Calauria 7.7, 15 Lovelock 7.2, 13 SUenus 7.0, 16 Rippingil' 7.0, 14 Trickery 7.0. Tortrix jumped out smartly, • followed by Red Signal, Acquittal, Arch Salute, and Barley Riggs. Acquittal headed Red Signal at the distance, but Tortrix held her place and won easily by a length. Three lengths separated second and third. Time, lmm 42sec. Epsom High-Weight Handicap, of 400 soys; one mile. —2 Brackenfield, 8.4 (\V. Bush), 1; 4 Melee, 9.9, 2 ; 1 Maccluff, H.B, 3. Also started; 10 Almoner 8.10, 5 Burrangong 8.7. 3 First Salute 8.1, 6 Sedd-el-Bahr 8.4, 9 John Barleycorn 8.2, 7 Bingham 8.0, 8 Hieio 8.0, 12 Achilledes 8.0, 11 Caverock 8.0. Sedd-el-Bahr showed the way to the straight, where Brackenfield took charge, and lasted long enough to win by a length from Melee, with the- third horse close up. ■ Time, lmin 42sec.
