KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL

The fortnjghtlyxmeeting of the Karori t Borough Council was held last evening. ' There were present: 'The Mayor (Mr. B. G. H. Burn) and Councillors W. Skegg,. & L. Tingey, T. W. Lewer, W. G. Bradnock, and'H. E. Drj-den. „ A cirdular letter was received from the Gisborrie Borough Council covering a motion passed by that council, and risking for the support of the Karori Borough Council. The resolution was as.follows : "That this council, at the request of the returned soldiers and public generally, approach the Government and ask them # to intern all enemy aliens without exception whatever during the period of .the war (and to utilise the services of such aliens in a manner which will return value to the State), and if the Government does not possess sufficient an-, thority, that the necessary legislation be passed at the coming session of Parliamentr_'and that the principal local-au-thorities of the Dominion be written to asking.theiC'do-operation and support in this matter. 'Alien' enemy' means and includes every person who is or has at any.time been a subject of any 'State , with which His Majesty is now at war, notwithstanding that such -person may ■•be also by-birth, naturalisation, or otherwise a British subject, or may have in any mariner ceased to be a subject of any such State." -The council .tscided. to support the resolution.
