NEW DISTRICT COMMANDER
COLONEL TATE APPOINTED. SUCCEEDS COLONEL JOHNSTON.
It is understood that Colonel F. E. Johnston, of the Prince of Wales's (North Staffordshire) Regiment, who was appointed to the command of the Wellington military on 16th July last, has been granted an important post in the main New Zealand Expeditionary Force which is about to leave for Europe. The vacancy, ifc is stated in equally reliable quarters, has been filled by the appointment of Colonel R. W. Tate, officer commanding the Wellington Infantry Brigade. Colonel T*te is & well-known solicitor in Carterbtm, and has held the post of brigade. commander, of the Wellington Infantry Brigade since 17th March, 1911.
