SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY.
A conceit arranged by Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Jones ,was held in the Sailors' Friend Society rooms last night, Mr. James Moore, the missioner, being in the chair.- The following contributed items :—Misses I. Jones, D. Jones, M. Jones, Messrs. L. Jones, V. B. Jones, T. H. Jones, Adams, and Bates (s.s. Muritai). Miss 1. Jones acted as accompanist. Several popular choruses were sung by the audience, Mr. Bates (s.s. Muritai) playing the accompaniments. An amusing conundrum competition was won by sailors from ships in port. During a short interval Mr. Moore gave au address on the temperance question, and eight men took the pledge of total abstinence. The performers, wero accorded a vote of thanks.
