The principal amounts received by the club were as follow : — Totalisator, £19,221 9s 8d; gates and railway receipts, £5295 16s 3d; gentlemen riders' certificates, £12; members' subscriptions and entrance fees, £732 18s j nominations, acceptances, etc., £5166 11s 6d; privileges, race books, etc,., £966 8s lid; Selling Race, £94 7s 6d; Jockeys' and Trainers' Provident Funds withdrawn from Equitable Building Society, £67 12s 7d; fines, £3. According to the statement of assets and liabilities, the Accumulated Fund has now reached £14,444 3s.

All there were 450 passengers orought to Wellington by the Athenic from London to-day, a big majority being in the third-class. There were 36 domestic servants included among the immigrants, and it is reported tha^ with the exception of two or thiee, they had been engaged by eager mistresses before the vessel s arrival here. The number of assisted passengers was 73—49 women and 24 children. Thirteen adults and 24 children, wore nominated by relatives in Now Zealand, and 36 adults approved by the High Commissioner. There were ten wives on the vessel coming out to rejoin their husbands, who have previously settled in New Zealand. The matron on the Athenic wa3 Miss G. B. Lamb. Mr. James B. Reid, of Elderslie, a director of the Bank of New Zealand, is returning to the Dominion by the P. and O. steamer Macedonia,* which was to ha\e left London on 9th August. Mr. A. W.
