The Cromwell correspondent of the Star telegraphs : "Without doubt thd ixtraordinary weather we have been favoured witb lately is beyond preceient. Hot days are invariably foliow»d by cold southerly winds ir the evening. On Thursday morning fresh sno>v jus noticed on the ranges, and thero vas a sharp frost which cut down the rhole of the potato crops on the Nevis md did considerable harm to tomatoes ,bout here. The autumn-sown crops \-e all right, but the spring-sown ones wave suffered greatly from drought, and tre past redemption."
