' Negotiations with tho Eastern Extension Company for the purchase of the Tasmanian cables having so far failed, the Federal Government is inviting tenders for the manufacture and laying of two cables between Victoria, and Tasmania, at 'an estimated cost of between £60,000 and £70,000. Tenders, accompanied by a depobit of £1000, close on 14th April.
