FOREIGN IMMIGRANTS.
The arrivals of Chinese in the Dominion during the past year were 247 men, seven women, and one child. Only thiee Japanese arrived during this period. The largest number of foreign immigrants from nny one country, after the Chinese, was from Geimany, the numbers being 245. . Austria accounts for 179 ; France 123, nnd America 169. Then the figures diop to the tens, ai rivals being from Denmark 75, Italy 69, Russia 41, Norway 26, Sweden 26, Greece 10. Other countries rcpiesented, but only by ones and twos, were Finland, Holland, Poland, Roumania, Switzerland, Tuikey, Siam, Syria, and Brazil. Altogether 1304 persons of other t.han British nationality arrived in the Dominion, but it does not necessarily follow that they lemained hern.
