WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY.
FEDERAL POSTAL DEPAET3IENT ACTIVE. Under (he n?w mail contract the Federal Postal Department is under obligation to establish a wireless telegraphy station at Rottnest, in Western Australia, as soon as possible. The clause in the contract- rnns : — "12. (1) Every mail ship shall bo always pivperly and sufficiently equipped in all respects, so as to render ht;r constantly efficient for the said services j and safe for the conveyance of mails. (2) Within six months after the Post-master-General establishes a. permanent wireless telegraphy station at itoltnest island or at any point on the Australian i coast b^twe-en Fremantle and Brisbane 1 the contractors *hall properly tit and j continue to keep fitted every mailship j used for the "purposes' of this" agreement I with approved wireless telegraphy in- j stallations in good working order and j condition." j When tljo invitations to submit tenders i are issued, as they soon "will h© to all the wireless telegraphy companies in the j world, tho Postmaster-General will include Rottnest with Port Moresby as amongst^ tho first places to receive installations of wireless telegraphy plant capable of sending and receiving messages over a distanco of 300 miles.
