A MUNICIPAL COMEDY.
[lIV TBLEGIUriI— MIESB ASSOCIATION,] Masteiiton, Tins Day. Mr. 11. E. Jaokson, who headed the poll in tho recent borough election, and was not allowed by tho Mayor (Mr. Heron) to make (he usual declaration (the latter considering that Mr. Jackson was not qualified to sit an a Councillor, as he was only entered on tho roll as a residential occupant), has discovered that ho can make the declaration before any member of the Council who will agree to tako it. Acting accordingly, Mr. Jackson made the declaration this morning, and at once lodged with the Town Clerk notice to movo at the next meeting of the Counoil that in refusing to receive his declaration the Mayor committed a gross breach of duty; that the Mayor's words and conduct on the occasion were arbitaary, unjustifiable, and insulting ; and that tho Mayor ought to apologise and if he does not the Council pass a resolution of ccusuro.
