OUR DEFENCE FORCES.
The uniform of the School Cadets throughout tho colony is to, consist of a blue sergo Norfolk jacket With scarlet shoulder-straps, knickerbockers, and navyblue stockings, Glengarry caps, brown waistbelt, pouch, &o. The whole of tho corps will be under the control of the Education Department, Five hundred light carbines, sighted up to 500 yard:?, have been ordered, and more will bo received later on. Mr. M'Douald, of the tho Wellington Education Board's staff, is to be adjutant of tho local battalion, which will be at least GOO strong. Major Loveday is to be in charge as representing the Education Department. Tho order for the supply of uniforms for the Wellington College Volunteers has been entrusted to the New Zealand Clothing Factory, Lambton-quay. A parade of the Civil Service Rifles was held last night. There was a muster of G3, under Captain Tregear and Lieutenants King and Lewis. Sergeant-Major Finn put the meu through company drill.
