POLITICAL.
Wellington, This day.
No news of Mr Pillict's resignation of his seat for Stonmore has yet been received. If it reaches the Speaker before the opening of Parliament it is most likely that that gentleman will not take any action with regard to it, as the session is so close at hand that he will leave it to the' House to issue the writ.
Dunedin, This day. ■-Mr■ Driver, M.H.R., intimates that ho will not seek re-election for Hokonui.
