GROUP V RIFLE MEETING

SOME FURTHER BESULTS. Further results of the matches firc-d at' the Group rifle meeting nt Trent hum on. Saturday last wore announced yesterday. The championship of the cadets under' sixteen, who fired with thp miniature rifle at 35 yards range, went to Cadet W. N. Macklin, of EO Company, who scored 60 points. Cadet D.' Bandyside, of tho Technical Colloge, also scored CO points, but was placed second because his score in the last match was smaller than Cadet Macklin's. The third place, went to Cadet Kirkland, of the Amokura, whose aggregate was 55 points. Following is the result of the matches for teams of cadets over sixteen years of age:— First (winners of Senior Cadet Challenge Shield): Wellington College No. 3 team— Sergt. It. L. .Archibald, 74 points; Sergt. .7. Harrison, 63 points; Cadet 1). A. Feast, 60 points; Cadet C. I). Graham, 69 points; Cadet A. C Mitchell, 79 points; total, 345 points. (Possible, 400 points.) Second: Scots College No. 1 team— Sergt. It. P. Mitchell, 07 points; Corpl. W. L. Fleming, CG points; Corpl. M. H. Feist, 37 points; Cadet K. M. Wickens, v 5!) points; Cadet G. C. Farmer, 64 points j t0ta1,.293 points. Tho third team was that entered by 30 Company (276 points): and the fourth, that entered by 39 Company CM points). The above teams shot with the .303 S.M.L.E. rifle. Following is tho result of the competition for teams of cadets under sixteen years of age:— First: Scots College No. 2 team—Cadet R Y. Baillie, 42 points; Cadet J. F. M'Leod, 39 points; Cadet W. J. M'Leod, 40 points-; Cadet C. W. Plimmcr, 59 points; Cadet J. P. Fmtatt, 40 points; total, 220 points. (Possible. -100 points.) Second: 39 Company No. 1 team—Cadet L Anderson. 40 points; Cadet J. Hancock, 20 notnfci Cadet E. G. Bolt. 43 points! Cadet C. Elliot, 42 points; Cadet E. D. Hacking, 39 points; total, 184 points. Scots College No. 1 team was third, with ISt points. \ competition for the cadets, numbering about forty, who are at present undergoing a 6pecinl course of training at G.TT..Q. DEVENISH SHIELD COMPETITION. •Following ore the results of the recent secondary schools shooting competition for the Deveuish Shield. Tennis _of eight men fired three separate practices nt 200 yds., 300 yds., and 500 yds. _ The first practice was snap-shooting, five shots; ithe second practice, rapid,, six shots; and the final practice, deliberate, five shots:—Wnitaki Hoys' High School, 375 out of 472; New Plymouth High' School, 323 out of 472; Hamilton High School, 313 out of 472; Napier Boys' High School, 803 out of 472; Auckland Grammar School, 290 out of 472; Wellington College, 274 out of 472; Marlborough. College, 239 out. of 472. , Waitaki Hoys' High School holds the shiold until December 1, 1921. Sergeant J. J. Brownleo and Sergeant S. Allen, each with n score of 52 out of a possible of 59, headed the list for New Zealand.
