£3O FINE ON BOOKMAKING CHARGE
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, December 3, When his client, Ernest Browne, aged 44, a barman, was fined £3O on a bookmaking charge, his counsel asked for time to pay. "Browne ought to get his principals to pay," said Mr J. L. Stout. S.M.. who presided, “if he was acting as an agent.” “They don't always pay.” sain counsel. “Well, they ought to,” commented the Magistrate. Counsel had stated that Browne was only acting as an agent to oblige customers.
