ATHENIC TO BE CONVERTED. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTBIC TELEGRAPH— cofseight.) (Received May 22nd, 8 p.m.) LONDON, May 22. The "Daily Telegraph" is informed that the Athenic has been purchased by Master A. Jliare, chairman of a whaling company in Norway, and will be converted into a whaler for use in the South Polar Seas. ' Her transformation will occupj three months at a cost of £IOO,OOO. She will start her new career at the earliest possible moment with a crew of 200.—Australian Press Association. [The Athenic, 12,366 tons, is a twinscrew four-mast steamer, was built at Belfast in 1901 by Harland and \lo.ff, Ltd., and was the property of the White Star Line.]
