WOOLCLASSER'S DEATH.
FELL FROM HOTEL WINDOW.
Through falling to the pavement from a second storey window in tho Southbridge Hotel at about half-past 1 o'clock yesterday morning Douglas Dexter Box, aged 29 years, received injuries to his head, from which he died seven hours later. By occupation Box, who was a single man and a returned soldier, was a woolclasser. His father is a resident of Sumner. At about half-past 11 on Saturday nfrht he retired to his room on the second floor and went to bed. , rwo hours after he was found lying m an unconscious state on the pavement below the window. He Was medically examined and admitted to the Leeston Hospital, where he died at 8.20 a.m. yesterday. . . . The District Coroner journeyed out to Leeston last night and held an ineuiest on the body. After hearing the evidence his Worship returned a verdict that Box died of coma, following hemorrhage of the brain, caused by a fracture of the skull sustained by accidentally falling out of the bedroom window. There was no suggestion or drink, the evidence showing Box to be a steady man.
