POLICEMAN MURDERED.
ASSAILANT GRANTED NEW TRIAL. (By Cable.—Pres« Association.—Copyright.) (Receive- December 19th, 9.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 19. The High Court granted Brown, sentenced to death for the murder of Sergeant Brown at St. Ives on July 31st, a new trial, the chief ground being that the judgo at the trial was in error in telling the jury that they were "not likely to find any verdict than guilty or not guilty.
