CHRISTCHURCH GOLF CLUB.
■■■' "" ♦ ■ ■'— A special meeting of the Christchurch Golf dub was held in the Clarendon Hotel last pight; Dr. Campbell in the chair.' The resignations of the captain (Mr B. H. Burns) and treasurer (Mr T. D'.-Condell) having been received, ifr "S,~ Wilder was elected captain .and Mr W. Harmari treasurer. The Chairman said the consideration of the method of conducting the monthly medal competition by the committee had resulted in their coming to the conclusion that a change was necessary. Instead of a member holding the medal for & period the committee thought that the winner of a competition should have something to mark his success, either in the way of buttons or a cheap medal. A third suggestion was that a button should be presented to any member who banded in an authenticated card that he had gone round the course with a score of 90 or less. Under the present system a member held the medal for three weeks and then had to give it up, and had no record of his win. . The matter was discussed at some length, with a View of getting the opinion of the meeting to guide the committee. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr Kitto, a very hearty vote of thanks was passed to the late captain and treasurer and also to Mr N. G. Hanmer for bis presentation of a shield to tbe club, The meeting then adjourned.
