. . . . — ■; . <» The Board met, yesterday, when the follbwing business of local interest was transacted. The proposed expenditure of deferred thirds by the Ormondville Road Board was approved of. Letters were read from : — Kumeroa Road Board re reserving right of ro£d through waste land proposed to be reserved on the banks of the Manawatu river. Granted, subject to the public having access.to the road. From TJnder-Secfetary for Crowti Lands, directing attention to notifaW tion in the Gazette, bringing the Tautane Village lands under the provisions of section 14 of the Lands Acts Amendment Act, 1888. — Received. From Anders Larsen, respecting some unoccupied sections in the Matamau Village Settlement. He drew the attention of the Board that the holder was not complying with the law, thus keeping out hona fide settlers.— The matter to be enquired into, the holders of the unoccupied •sections to be informed that they were not carrying out the regulations of the Act as to residence and improvement, and that if the Act were not complied with, t/he sections would be forfeited. From C. R. J. Mitchell, asking for permission to defer building on his section 173, block V, Takapau, until June of next year ; until he could get the bush burnt off.— Request gjranted. From John* Mackle, section 35, Tautane village, asking for same concessions until March next.—Approved. G. Satchwell, section 3, block 1., Orniondville, and Richard Bourke, section 9, block L, Motu, applied for time for payments. — Both applications granted. From Joseph Pana, applying for reduction of rent on section 7, Makaretu. -The Board regretted that it was not within their power to grant the concession. From J. A. Danielson, enquiring whether the Board would reduce value of improvements from section 12, block 1, Woodville, and terms, etc. Fifteen acres had been felled and burnt, £15. Price £Z per acre.— The Chairman said they could either reduce the improvements or the price of the land. There was no doubt that it wj^s a bad precedent to reduce the improvements. — Members were of the opinion that the land was not worth more than 30s an acre. — Government to be recommended to reduce the land to 30s pei acre. From W. Edwards, asking to be allowed to purchase portion of section 58, adjoining his present holding, section 50, Tautane Village.— Granted. From A. Remington, applying to have section 5 and 6, block 111, Ormondville, offered at auction. — To be put up to auction. From James Boese, enquiring whether there was anything left out of the money paid for improvements upon section 58, block 1., Woodville. —To be informed that the Board had no power to grant the request. MISCELLANEOUS. In connection with W. Clarke's case, a deferred payment selector, who had only paid the first instalment, although he selected in 1886. — The Chairman said the selector had held the section for nearly three years and had only made the first payment, and there were no improvements made. — Section forfeited. Transfers. — The following transfers were applied for : — Deferred payment — Jensen to Johnson, section. 6, block 1., ' Ormondville ; granted. L. W. Amundsen to J. J. Browne, section 9, block VI, Takapau; declined. A. Amu,ndsen to J. J. Browne, section 16, block VI., Takapau ; declined, on the ground that Mr Browne already held sufficient interest at Ormondville. W. Looney to W. Wood, section 9, block L, Woodville ; granted. Thomas Brown to J. Meacheam, section 205, block VIL, Woodville, and H. Brown to J. Meacheam, section 206, block V11.,, Woodville ; to be informed that one transfer weuld be granted, but that the Board objected to the second j transfer. Small run — Run No 46, Mangatokerau, from J. Hay to N. Fitzgerald ; approved. The Board then adjourned.
