NAVY INCREASES.
+ London, Oct. 13. Mr Ellis Ashmead-Bartlett, Civil Lord of the Admiralty, in the course of a speech at Sheffield,, said, that the Admiralty had resolved to increase the strength of the Imperial navy. * Lord George Hamilton First Lord of the Admiralty, speaking at Glasgow, said that the construction of twenty-nine warships aggregating 100,000 tons would be completed in December next. He said that England ought to follow Australia's example, and organise efficient bodies and vessels for the local defence of trade centres. Eight of the largest war-ships were awating guns, the production of -which must be accelerated. Paris, Oct. 11. The demands of Admiral Krantz, Minister of Marine, for an increase in the navy estimates have been conceded.
